Here is a step by step walk-through from Skype, about how to use their software to make a video call.

If you haven’t already got Skype installed on your computer, you will need to get Skype first remember!

Open Skype, if it is not already set to open when you start windows.

In Skype, click the Contacts tab.

Find the person you want to call and check that they are online. If they are, you will see this status icon next to their name  Online status icon

If you see one of these icons instead, it means the person is on a phone or mobile so you won’t be able to video call, but you can make a voice call with a little Skype Credit or a subscription. Offline status icons  If you want to video-call with them right now you will have to tell them to get online and log into Skype!

Once you get theOnline status icon  by their name, just click the contact. You will see their details in the main window.

Click the Video call button (this will only be visible if you have your webcam plugged in, so if the video call button isn’t there then check this, it might be helpful to log out of Skype then back in again after connecting your camera)

The screen changes colour, a call bar appears near the bottom of the screen and you will hear ringing until the other person answers.
When they do, just smile, wave, and say ‘¡hola!’

You can now enjoy your video call for as long as you like.  When you want to hang up, just click ‘End Call’

If you can’t see or hear each other, click the call quality button in the call bar and check your settings (you may have to move your mouse to make the call bar appear).
